Prescriptions

Most of the medicines stocked in our dispensary are prescription only medicines (POM-V). These include flea and worm preparations as well as painkillers, antibiotics and hormones. We are not able to prescribe or dispense any POM-V medicines unless the animal in question is "under our care". This is a legal requirement that we must abide by under current legislation.

It is recommended that we examine animals receiving repeat prescriptions every 3 months. This is understandably frustrating for the owners but it is in your pet's best interests to have regular checks to ensure that their medication is working as it should.

If preferred, clients have the option to purchase medications from a pharmacist or other outlet using a written prescription from the veterinary surgeon. This service carries a charge of £7.50+VAT per prescription and we require 24 hours notice.

It is our practice policy to handwrite every prescription and keep copies of same. If the prescription is required for an internet pharmacy we will happily post it directly for you with no extra cost.

We respectfully remind clients that it is illegal for us to write prescriptions to obtain medicines from abroad.
