Meet the team
Vets
Qualified from Dublin University in1993 and having spent time working in the west of Ireland calving cows on mountain sides she decided to move to Cornwall. She met and married Tim ( a cornish farmer) and is doomed to spend the rest of her life in the county! Ever one to make the best of things, she set up the practice in one of her husbands disused barns in 2004 and has been here ever since. Any spare moments are spent ferrying around her 3 children and helping Tim with the farm animals. When she can get away Orla enjoys swimming, kick boxing and walking her dogs.
Qualified from Bristol University in 1998 and has worked in mixed practices in Okehampton and Launceston before joining us in 2010. She lives with her husband Ian and two lovely children. In her spare time Sarah enjoys pilates, renovating their house and growing her own vegetables.
Qualified from Edinburgh University in 1999 and since then has travelled the world working in the USA, New Zealand, Europe and Borneo. Somewhere along the way she got around to marrying Richard and having 3 lovely children and now lives locally with her family, 6 chickens and a pony. Jo is currently working as our locum so you may see her from time to time.
Reception
Joined us in 2007 in reception and may still be found there despite her promotion to practice manager. She is a local farmers wife and used to work in local government. Catherine spends her 'spare' time helping out on her husbands farm and rounding up unruly chickens.
Joined us in 2009 in reception. She has a mad springer spaniel called Molly and 2 cats Thomas and Ebony. Anita loves working in her garden and tap dancing in between home schooling her children.
Nurses
Qualified in 1991 and has been with the practice since it opened in 2004. She loves socialising puppies for Hearing Dogs for Deaf people and has a very hairy dog of her own called Vance. Her special interests include pet nutrition, oral health and complementary medicines. Outside work she enjoys wine making, karate and growing her own fruit and veg.
Joined us in 2007 as a trainee Animal Nursing Assistant, flew through her training. She is now a fully qualified RVN. Somehow she has managed all this and kept her flock of sheep in order. Practice cat Hermiony is always on hand to assist Sophia with her lunch.
Katharine is our latest addition and is currently attending Duchy College studying for the FdSc in veterinary nursing. She is originally from Plymouth and has studied Philosophy in Swansea. Her 2 dogs Denny and Ben keep her on her toes, demanding plenty of walks.
