Most of the medicines stocked in our dispensary are prescription only medicines (POM-V). These include flea and worm preparations as well as painkillers, antibiotics and hormones. We are not able to prescribe or dispense any POM-V medicines unless the animal in question is "under our care". This is a legal requirement that we must abide by under current legislation.
It is recommended that we examine animals receiving repeat prescriptions every 3 months. This is understandably frustrating for the owners but it is in your pet's best interests to have regular checks to ensure that their medication is working as it should.
If preferred, clients have the option to purchase medications from a pharmacist or other outlet using a written prescription from the veterinary surgeon. This service carries a charge of £22.50 incl. It is our practice policy to email the prescriptions directly to the client’s chosen pharmacy. A paper copy is kept on file. Please note that schedule 2 drugs require the original prescription to be posted and may take longer to process.
We respectfully remind clients that it is illegal for us to write prescriptions to obtain medicines from abroad.

As of the 1st September 2023 new prescribing regulations have come into place for POM-V medicines.
Virtually every medication in our dispensary is a POM-V including fees and worm treatments.
There are additional checks that need to be performed before these medicines can be dispensed
This will have a knock on effect on how quickly products are dispensed.
We respectfully request that our clients order medication at least 48 hours in advance to avoid disappointment.
If medication is needed urgently. it can be fast-tracked but will incur a fee of £15.00
